Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint

To provide sound quality, feel, response and playability that exceeds traditional designs, U.S. Masters High Performance Series Guitars and Bass Guitars all use our proprietary Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint.

A Substantial Structural Innovation For Guitar and Bass
The neck is "captured", locked in place inside the neck joint of the bass guitar just as it is in the neck joint of the U.S. Masters LeGrand guitar shown above. It won't move, shift, lift up, loosen or lose tone or sound quality. It is rock solid.

By combining the most impressive attributes of existing neck designs with our rock solid, innovative, new Ever-Tru neck structure and profile, we enhanced the qualities that make great guitars and basses: attack; sustain; no dead spots; thick, full-bodied tone everywhere on the neck; an intuitive, consistent feel. It’s super responsive - alive in your hands.

Our innovative, patented Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint enhances tone, timbre, resonance, attack, sustain and structural integrity and allows virtually unimpeded access to the entire fingerboard. It provides the advantages of neck-thru sustain and upper neck access with a richness of resonances and ease of service a neck-thru can’t provide.

We created a fundamental structure that underlies every model of guitar and bass we make that consistently gives them the exceptional acoustical qualities absolutely necessary to a great instrument.

Our Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint provides the benefits of the 3 traditional designs for joining the neck to the body -- bolt-on, set-neck (glued in neck), and neck-thru -- without their inherent liabilities. The neck is locked into place by its interlocking structure so it can't shift, pull up or move. They are hand fit, then it is fastened into place with machine screws which thread into steel inserts inlaid just below the fingerboard of the guitar and bass necks. This actually compresses the body and neck together making a significant difference in the sound, resonance, dynamics, sustain, attack and other positive attributes of the sound quality of the instrument.
