Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint
A Substantial Structural Innovation For Guitar and Bass

The neck is "captured", locked in place inside the neck joint of the bass guitar just as it is in the neck joint of the U.S. Masters LeGrand guitar shown above. It won't move, shift, lift up, loosen or lose tone or sound quality. It is rock solid.

By combining the most impressive attributes of existing neck designs with our rock solid, innovative, new Ever-Tru neck structure and profile, we enhanced the qualities that make great guitars and basses: attack; sustain; no dead spots; thick, full-bodied tone everywhere on the neck; an intuitive, consistent feel. It’s super responsive - alive in your hands.

Our innovative, patented Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint enhances tone, timbre, resonance, attack, sustain and structural integrity and allows virtually unimpeded access to the entire fingerboard. It provides the advantages of neck-thru sustain and upper neck access with a richness of resonances and ease of service a neck-thru can’t provide.

We created a fundamental structure that underlies every model of guitar and bass we make that consistently gives them the exceptional acoustical qualities absolutely necessary to a great instrument.

Our Compression-Set Captive Neck Joint provides the benefits of the 3 traditional designs for joining the neck to the body -- bolt-on, set-neck (glued in neck), and neck-thru -- without their inherent liabilities. The neck is locked into place by its interlocking structure so it can't shift, pull up or move. They are hand fit, then it is fastened into place with machine screws which thread into steel inserts inlaid just below the fingerboard of the guitar and bass necks. This actually compresses the body and neck together making a significant difference in the sound, resonance, dynamics, sustain, attack and other positive attributes of the sound quality of the instrument.

The Bigger Picture
However, no one facet of a guitar's design exists in a vacuum. It functions as an inter-related part of the whole.

Our objective is to provide instruments beyond custom shop quality, beyond standard hand made quality, beyond the current standards of structural integrity, sound quality, feel and playability.

So, we rethought every detail of the instrument from head to toe, without regard to tradition or conventional practices to determine if there isn’t a better way to do things to give serious, accomplished and professional players the best guitar or bass we possibly can. And we make our instruments with minute tolerances and a degree of consistency very uncommon in the industry. You can order with confidence that the feel and sound will be very much the same from one guitar or bass to the next.

Our comprehensive instrument design is without compromise for tuning stability, even under aggressive playing with lots of bending (including bends behind the nut) - even with aggressive use of a tremolo. It provides feel, responsiveness and expression that traditional and popular instruments simply can't achieve. It provides sound quality that is on the cutting edge of industry standards. The benefit to you is that a U.S. Masters guitar or bass will help you to play better and sound better. It will help you to make better music, and enjoy it more.

We enlisted the knowledge and talents of one of the world’s most foremost pickup designers and innovators to develop a variety of proprietary pickup sets to our unique specifications and qualifications - pickups devoid of irritating sonic artifacts, pickups that enhance and glorify the exceptional resonant qualities of our instruments.

We developed a way to deliver instruments loaded with substantial features and advantages, completely made with the finest American components - at prices well below other quality manufacturers.

U.S. Masters Guitars and Bass Guitars are made in the U.S.A. in the U.S. Masters factory. Many of the processes we developed are unique. Much of the instruments are hand made with obsessive attention to detail and tolerances. American made instruments and made in the USA craftsmanship still leads the world for professional, top quality instruments. And U.S. Masters continually works to be an innovative leader making some of the highest performance guitars and basses in the world.
